[Defeated in 2022 Republican Primary.] Tom Rice is a former tax lawyer and accountant whose priorities include increasing U.S. competitiveness, promoting infrastructure improvements and expediting disaster relief for his coastal constituency, and helping the restaurant industry in the tourist-heavy Myrtle Beach area recover from the coronavirus pandemic. Rice received some unusual national attention in January 2021 when he voted for an impeachment article charging outgoing President Donald Trump with fomenting the attack on the Capitol during the certification of the 2020 presidential election.
