Tom Malinowski (NJ-7 - D)
Tom Malinowski is a former diplomat and congressional foreign policy aide who entered Congress eager to work on tax and transportation issues that hit close to home. In the 117th Congress, Malinowski was determined to raise the $10,000 state and local tax deduction cap — a valuable tax break for many residents of high-tax jurisdictions including New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District. In January 2014, President Barack Obama nominated Malinowski to serve as assistant secretary of state for democracy, human rights, and labor.
