Common Ground Scorecard for Tina Smith
U.S. Senate
Tina Smith (MN - D)
Minnesota constituents may not have known Tina Smith as well as they knew her predecessor, Al Franken, when she replaced him in 2018. But Smith gained a Franken-like progressive record quickly, as had been expected by state operatives familiar with the former Planned Parenthood executive from decades of behind-the-scenes work. She also co-founded a marketing and communications firm and was a top adviser in 2002 to Walter Mondale, the former vice president.
