Governor Tim Walz’s career has been defined by public service, from serving in the U.S. military, to serving students as a high-school teacher and football coach, to serving Minnesota in Congress. After 24 years in the Army National Guard, Command Sergeant Major Walz retired in 2005 and won his first election to the House of Representatives in 2006. His achievements include work on Minnesota’s water systems, highways, farms, and Veterans Cemetery, as well as the STOCK Act, a bill that sought to limit congressional insider trading.
