Scott said he would reduce taxes and the national debt, increase U.S. manufacturing, support charter schools, and support investment in the military, law enforcement, and security at the U.S.-Mexico border. He also spoke about his background growing up in a low-income household, saying, “I’m the candidate the far left fears the most. I disrupt their narrative. […] I’m living proof that America is the land of opportunity and not a land of oppression.” Before serving in the U.S. Senate, Scott represented South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District in the U.S. House from 2011 to 2013.
