Suzanne Bonamici (OR-1 - D)
Making a mark on the nation’s education laws has been a top priority in Congress for Suzanne Bonamici, who helped a bipartisan group of legislators craft a major rewrite of the No Child Left Behind law. The Oregon Democrat authored provisions of the Every Student Succeeds Act in 2015 that reduced standardized testing in schools and promoted arts and music education. After earning her law degree, Bonamici moved to Washington to work in the Credit Practices Division at the Federal Trade Commission. In 2001, Bonamici began working as a legislative assistant in the Oregon House of Representatives. She ran for and won a House seat representing Washington County in 2006.
