Common Ground Scorecard for Shelley Capito
U.S. Senate
Shelley Capito (WV - R)
Shelley Moore Capito has used her time in the Senate to press for local West Virginia interests like coal mining, expanded broadband in rural areas, and the opioid crisis, as well as national issues like curbing illegal immigration. Although she’s a reliably Republican vote, Capito has often worked with Democrats on legislation. Her father, Arch Moore Jr., was one of West Virginia’s most storied politicians. She followed her father’s footsteps into politics in 1996, when she won a seat in the West Virginia House of Delegates.
