Sarah Palin was the Governor of Alaska from 2006-2009 and the Republican vice-presidential nominee for the 2008 United States presidential election. Prior to her time as governor, Palin served two terms on the Wasilla, Alaska, city council from 1992 to 1996, then won two terms as mayor of Wasilla from 1996 to 2002. After resigning from her position as governor in 2009, Palin wrote a number of books, including Going Rogue: An American Life, and star in a reality television series, Sarah Palin’s Alaska.
