[Retiring at end of current term.] Pat Toomey is a mild-mannered champion of free markets, bank deregulation, and tax cuts. He was one of the seven Republican senators who voted to convict Donald Trump for his role in the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. Toomey will not seek re-election in 2022. Eighteen years is a long time, he said, referring to the length of his service in the House and Senate at the end of the 117th Congress.
