[Defeated in primary for Alabama Senate.] Mo Brooks is a blunt-speaking firebrand from northern Alabama who promotes the America First agenda Donald Trump touted as president. In March 2021, Brooks announced he would seek the Senate seat of retiring Republican Richard Shelby in the 2022 election. After receiving a law degree from the University of Alabama, he worked as a county prosecutor and as a law clerk for a state circuit court judge. He also was a partner in a private law practice.
