A first-generation American citizen, Congressman Mike Garcia was a highly decorated United States Naval Officer and businessman before serving in the United States House of Representatives. Garcia won election to a California swing district not once but twice in 2020 walking a fine line of support for President Trump much of the time, with bipartisan efforts at others. Garcia has split with Republicans on some issues key to his district, such as limits on federal tax breaks for state and local taxes, and the annual defense bill.
