Mike Bost secured the top Republican spot on the House Veterans Affairs Committee for the 117th Congress and has a lengthy list of improvements he’s seeking for veterans. Among the former Marine’s top priorities are expediting benefits for veterans exposed to toxic chemicals, continued suicide prevention efforts, and expanding an overhaul of the Veterans Affairs Department’s electronic health and benefits records. Bost left the marine corps in 1982, returned home and managed his family’s trucking business for a decade before launching into local politics with election to the county board.
