The rhythms and vicissitudes of Capitol Hill, the White House and the legislative process are familiar to Melanie Stansbury, who worked in Washington for the Office of Management and Budget and as a Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committe aide before becoming a New Mexico state legislator. Stansbury is a lifelong science enthusiast and self-described “water nerd.” She started a policy consulting practice before her election to the state House in 2018.
