Common Ground Scorecard for Mark Pocan
U.S. House
Mark Pocan (WI-2 - D)
Pocan isn’t shy about his desire to increase the number of progressive lawmakers in Congress as a way to advance Democratic policy proposals in a “faster and more aggressive” fashion. “Bipartisanship isn’t the goal. The goal is to help people,” Pocan told The Capital Times in August 2021. The lawmaker was among a record number of openly gay people elected to Congress in 2012 and serves a co-chairman of the LGBT Equality Caucus. Pocan opened his own printing company in 1988 after graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. The shop is unionized, and Pocan, along with the employees, is a union member.
