[Defeated in 2022 Democratic Primary.] Marie Newman came to the House armed with a progressive agenda after ousting an incumbent who was part of a Chicago political dynasty. She supports liberal proposals such as “Medicare for All,” the New Green Deal, and abortion rights. Newman hasn’t previously held office but was very politically active following Hillary Clinton’s loss in the 2016 presidential election. Previously, she worked as an executive at advertising agencies before starting her own consulting firm in 2005.
