Larry Elder (R) is a talk radio host and 2021 California gubernatorial recall election candidate. He officially announced his candidacy for the 2024 presidential election on April 20, 2023. In his campaign announcement, Elder highlighted his support for law enforcement, increasing security at the U.S.-Mexico border, and producing more energy in America. He also said he believes “the absolutely disgraceful lie that the Democrats put on everything, which is that America is systemically racist,” has negative impacts on police efficacy, and said he opposed government welfare programs because he believes they result in increased numbers of single-parent households.
