Common Ground Scorecard for Katie Porter
U.S. House
Katie Porter (CA-47 - D)
Katie Porter is a force of nature with a white board. In her first term representing Orange County, California, the former law professor made her name as a tough questioner whose grillings of witnesses could go viral. She took on JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon, Wells Fargo CEO Timothy Sloan, Housing Secretary Ben Carson, Treasury Secretary Stephen Mnuchin and Dr. Robert Redfield, who was director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. At Harvard University Law School, a bankruptcy class taught by future-Sen. Elizabeth Warren sparked her interest in consumer issues and the two went on to coauthor a book on bankruptcy law. She continued her research on those issues while teaching at the University of California Irvine Law School.
