[Retiring at end of current term.] Kathleen Rice has not been shy to stand up to the old-guard of her party, most notably when she opposed Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) in the election for speaker at the start of the 116th Congress. After law school, Rice worked in the Brooklyn district attorney’s office before becoming an assistant U.S. attorney in Philadelphia. She returned to Nassau County and was elected District Attorney, focusing on equal pay for women, drug and alcohol abuse, and public corruption.
