Elected to the House in 2018 after nearly three decades in the New York State Assembly, Joe Morelle represents a district that includes the city of Rochester and his home suburb of Irondequoit. His state and national agendas have been closely aligned, particularly on what he calls poverty-fighting issues. He started his political career at age 24 by running for a seat in the Monroe County legislature.
