John Moolenaar is a low-key former chemist who uses his seat to promote health research and projects important to his central Michigan district. He is Michigan’s most senior member on the influential Appropriations committee since 2011. He worked as a chemist and industry specialist at Dow Chemical, was director of the Small Business Center at Middle Michigan Development Corp. and was an administrator at the Midland Academy of Advanced and Creative Studies.
