Common Ground Scorecard for Jim Inhofe
U.S. Senate
Jim Inhofe (OK - R)
[Resigning at the end of 2022.] Jim Inhofe may be the Senate’s most important advocate for military spending, pressing for yearly increases of at least 3% to 5% to the Pentagon’s $700 billion plus budget. He’s raised alarm about China posing a serious strategic challenge to the U.S. and has found a partner in Senate Armed Services Committee chair Jack Reed (D-R.I.) for authorizing and funding policy in the Indo-Pacific region. Inhofe has also been the most vocal proponent of keeping a robust U.S. presence on the African continent to serve as a counterweight to China which is making inroads there and to prevent the rise of terrorism.
