A Navy veteran who served in Afghanistan, Indiana Congressman Jim Banks is a social and fiscal conservative who favors shrinking the federal government’s role outside of national defense. Banks grew up in a trailer park in Columbia City and was the first member of his family to go to college. He worked in commercial real estate and earned an MBA from Grace College in 2013. His path to elected office began at the local level, working first on campaign staffs for several Republican candidates.
