Jake Ellzey (TX-6 - R)
Jake Ellzey, a state representative, was victorious in a July 2021 special election for the Texas seat once held by Ron Wright, the first member of Congress to die from Covid-19. Ellzey earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the Naval Academy in 1992 and served 20 years in the Navy, retiring at the rank of commander. He deployed nine times during his service, including to Afghanistan and Iraq. After retiring from the military, Ellzey became a private pilot and civilian contractor.
