Greg Stanton’s policy priorities in Congress are much the same as when he was mayor of Phoenix. The Arizona Democrat represents one of state’s most urban districts and Stanton aims to continue tackling its infrastructure needs. Stanton pushed House colleagues responsible for allocating federal funding to invest in Arizona’s water infrastructure in order to combat climate change, notably the extreme heat and fires experienced by his state and across the West. He served nine years on the Phoenix City Council and as a state deputy attorney general before his election as mayor of the city in 2011.
