New York’s first Asian-American member of Congress, and the child of Chinese and Taiwanese parents, Grace Meng sees herself as a bridge among the distinct cultures residing within her Queens district. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Meng emerged as a crusader against anti-Asian sentiment and hate crimes. She worked as a public-interest lawyer and also worked on her father’s winning campaign for the New York Assembly in 2004.
