Derek Schmidt (KS - R)
Derek Schmidt was elected the 44th attorney general of Kansas in 2010 and was reelected in 2014 and 2018. Prior to his post as attorney general, Schmidt served on the Kansas State Senate where he was chairman of the Senate Agriculture Committee and Senate Majority Leader. A strong supporter of personal responsibility, individual freedoms and the Constitution, Schmidt is a conservative who believes in building a climate of opportunity for all Kansans and protecting traditional values like religious freedom, the rule of law, life, freedom to speak openly, and the Second Amendment.
