Deborah Ross, a former state director for the American Civil Liberties Union, said she wants to continue the fight for justice and equality in Congress. Ross is a member of a number of health, environment, education and international-related caucuses. She practiced law in North Carolina before becoming the state director for the ACLU in 1994, staying until she ran for the state House of Representatives in 2002. Ross served in the House until 2013, when she resigned to serve as the legal counsel for GoTriangle, a regional transit agency.
