Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-25 - D)
Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who has long challenged Republican policies on health care, guns, immigration and abortion, has emerged as one of her party’s top appropriators, leading a panel focused on the Veterans Affairs Department and construction projects carried out by the Defense Department. After graduating, Wasserman Schultz went to work as an aide to a State Representative whom she succeeded in the legislature in 1992. At 26, she was the youngest woman elected to the Florida House. She stepped back from the national spotlight after her 2011 to 2016 tenure as chair of the Democratic National Committee.
