Common Ground Scorecard for Dan Newhouse
U.S. House
Dan Newhouse (WA-4 - R)
Dan Newhouse knows the value of farmworkers to the U.S. food and agriculture systems — he’s a hops-growing farmer and former state agriculture director from a largely rural, trade-dependent district. The fourth-term Republican often breaks with fellow Republicans to favor ways to help farmworkers and their family members obtain a lawful immigration status and pathway to citizenship. His central Washington district produces a wide range of specialty crops. Newhouse served from 2003 to 2009 in the Washington state House, then became director of the state Agriculture Department from 2009 to 2013.
