Dan Kildee is a leading advocate in Congress for protecting drinking water, preserving the Great Lakes, aiding workers adversely affected by trade pacts, and revitalizing cities like his hometown of Flint, where aging infrastructure led to a massive water crisis. In 2002, serving in the county treasurer post, Kildee founded the Genesee County Land Bank, which helps redevelop abandoned properties in Michigan. In 2009, Kildee left the treasurer’s office after about 13 years and co-founded the Center for Community Progress, a national nonprofit that works for the redevelopment of cities with blighted properties.
