Colin Schmitt was elected to the New York State Assembly in 2018 and re-elected in 2020 to represent parts of Orange and Rockland counties. During his first legislative session, Schmitt passed 43 sponsored, co- and multi-sponsored bills, with a bipartisan legislative focus on tax relief, ethics reform, and preservation of community and natural resources. Prior to his election to the Assembly, Schmitt served as Chief of Staff for the Town of New Windsor. He is currently a Sergeant in the Army National Guard and a licensed commercial real estate agent.
