Chris Van Hollen has promoted pay raises for federal employees, an expansion of federal paid leave to include 12 weeks of family and medical leave, erecting a new FBI headquarters in Maryland, and statehood for Washington, D.C. He was elected to the Maryland House of Delegates in 1990, the same year he earned a law degree from Georgetown University.
