Common Ground Scorecard for Carolyn Maloney
U.S. House
Carolyn Maloney (NY-12 - D)
[Defeated in 2022 Democratic primary.] Carolyn Maloney’s classic New York toughness and liberal bona fides have been put to good use presiding over the traditionally combative House Oversight and Reform Committee. She’s lobbed tough questions at numerous Trump administration officials about delays to the U.S. Census and the handling of the U.S. Postal Service, and also sought to review the government’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic. She worked for several years after college as a teacher and an administrator with the New York City Board of Education. She then was a senior aide with the New York state legislature before challenging and defeating incumbent Robert Rodriguez in 1982 for a seat on the New York City Council.
