Common Ground Scorecard for Bobby Scott
U.S. House
Bobby Scott (VA-3 - D)
Bobby Scott, a reliably liberal vote in the House, has spent nearly three decades focused squarely on labor, education, and criminal justice system policies and since his arrival to Congress in 1993, he’s served on the leading panel on these issues. Scott also is the dean of the Virginia delegation and has sought to highlight his penchant for working long hours and “barnstorming” his coastal Hampton Roads district to make himself available to constituents. He served in the Massachusetts National Guard and the U.S. Army Reserve before returning home to Newport to practice law. Scott won his first elected office — a seat in the state House of Delegates — in 1977.
