Bob McDermott was a USMC Officer during the first gulf war and served eight years as a Marine before being honorably discharged. He and his wife have three biological children and have fostered and adopted five more. McDermott has served six terms in the Hawaii State House of Representatives and believes his work history, military service, family life and faith in God is the moral crucible which forms his political views.
