Common Ground Scorecard for Alma Adams
U.S. House
Alma Adams (NC-12 - D)
Alma Adams is known for her extensive collection of hats; she sports a zebra print version on her official House website. But she is perhaps better known for the depth of her support for historically black colleges and universities. A former art history professor at Greensboro’s Bennet College, Adams has made education made a central part of her career. She originally founded the bipartisan, and now bicameral, HBCU Caucus with former Rep. Bradley Byrne (R-Ala.) and has repeatedly introduced legislation to help these institutions gain greater access to more resources such as funding to finance repairs, maintenance, and construction.
