Shamiaine Daniels’ family moved to America when she was 13 to build a better life. She later became an attorney to fight for workers’ rights and civil rights. Daniels was elected to the Harrisburg City Council in 2013, where she led the effort to help small businesses open with less red tape and lower fees, fought for affordable housing for families, and invested in youth programs.
