[Defeated in 2022 Democratic primary.] Mondaire Jones, who was an attorney in Westchester County’s Law Department before winning his freshman term in New York’s 17th District, said he wants to pursue bold, progressive policies. He is one of the first Black openly-gay members of Congress. Jones had a year-long fellowship at the DOJ’s Office of Legal Policy during the Obama administration. He worked on judicial nominations including Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan.
