Matt Rosendale, who has overseen Montana’s securities and insurance industries as a state official, said he’ll seek a smaller regulatory footprint in Washington in favor of more business-friendly economic policies. A former real estate broker on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Montana rancher, Rosendale was first elected to the state House of Representatives in 2010. As a state lawmaker, he cosponsored bills to authorize firearms on college campuses, establish public charter schools, and require federal law enforcement officers to inform local sheriffs before taking action in the state.
