Andrew Garbarino, a third-generation Long Islander, supported the police during a year of urban turmoil, and called for rolling back a limit on state and local tax deductions. He opposes efforts to defund the police and also wants to reduce taxes and regulations for small businesses. Before entering politics, he practiced real estate law at his father’s law firm in Sayville, N.Y., where he grew up. He’s also served as counsel for the Captain Merrill H. Masin and Graham D. Masin Foundation.
