Mariannette Miller-Meeks broke with her party by voting to certify President Joe Biden’s 2020 election victory, and was one of 35 House Republicans to vote in favor of creating a bipartisan Jan. 6 Commission to investigate the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. Miller enlisted in the Army at the age 18, rising through the ranks and earning nursing and medical degrees. She was Iowa’s public health director from 2011 to 2014.
