Common Ground Scorecard for Mike Rogers
U.S. House
Mike Rogers (AL-3 - R)
A strong advocate of a robust military, Rogers assumes the role as ranking Republican on the House Armed Services Committee at a time when weapons systems are likely to face skepticism and cuts from the majority Democrats. Rogers’ focus on national security coincides with the interests of his Alabama district, which includes the Anniston Army Depot. Rogers began his career in politics a couple of years after earning his Master of Public Administration. At 28, he became the youngest person, and first Republican, to join the Calhoun County Commission in 1986.
