Ted Lieu, an avid social media user and frequent guest on cable news shows, was one of Donald Trump’s most prominent critics online, on TV, and in the halls of Congress. He clerked for U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Thomas Tang, the federal judiciary’s first Chinese American judge. Then Lieu joined the Air Force, spending four years on active duty in the Judge Advocate General corps. He still serves in the Air Force Reserve and was promoted to colonel in 2015.
