Common Ground Scorecard for Larry Bucshon
U.S. House
Larry Bucshon (IN-8 - R)
As a former heart surgeon, Larry Bucshon is a Republican go-to member on health policy, even if his perspective sometimes means taking positions to the left of conservative hard-liners and to the right of liberals who want a single-payer health-care system. His medical background has guided his focus on health in Congress, including recent efforts to address high maternal mortality rates, protect physician pay and prevent deceptive healthcare advertising. His surgical residency was in Milwaukee and he spent some time training at the veterans’ hospital there. He joined the Navy Reserves and served for almost a decade.
