[Defeated in 2022 Democratic Primary.] Kurt Schrader isn’t in Washington to make friends. A member of the Blue Dog Coalition, a shrinking group of centrist Democrats, Schrader has successfully used his vote as leverage on key issues that matter to his district. A farmer and veterinarian, Schrader served on the Canby town planning commission for 16 years before he was elected to the state House in 1996. He served there until 2002 when he was elected to the state Senate.
