Common Ground Scorecard for Charlie Crist
Governor
Charlie Crist (FL- - D)
[Resigned to run for Governor.] Charlie Crist, Florida’s party-switching former governor, entered Congress as a self-described populist striving to stay out of the partisan fray. Many of his legislative efforts reflect that goal. Representing a Gulf Coast district, he has offered bills to provide low-interest flood mitigation loans, address shoddy military-base housing, enforce prohibitions on spam phone calls, and expand access to veteran treatment courts. He’s also called for more civility in Congress. First elected to the House in 2016, Crist won’t be making Congress his political home for long. In May 2021, Crist announced a 2022 campaign for governor.
