[Retiring at end of current term.] Stephanie Murphy, the first Vietnamese-American woman elected to Congress, is an influential leader of the centrist, pro-business Democrats who are willing to cross party lines mostly on economic and national security policy. Murphy also is a co-chair of the Blue Dog Coalition, a small bloc of Democrats who emphasize fiscal restraint, and a member of the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus. Prior to office, Murphy worked at Deloitte Consulting and as an analyst for the Department of Defense.
