Common Ground Scorecard for Fred Upton
U.S. House
Fred Upton (MI-6 - R)
[Retiring at end of current term.] Fred Upton, the dean of the Michigan congressional delegation and a former Energy and Commerce Committee chairman, is a self-described governing Republican who’s cultivated an image as a compromise-minded legislator in a closely divided Congress riven by partisanship. Upton traces his impulses for compromise to his days as a young aide in Ronald Reagan’s White House. In January 2021, Upton was one of the 10 Republicans who voted to impeach outgoing President Donald Trump.
